The clubs of the Eredivisie play a series of mutual practice matches throughout August. At least two matches per team are broadcast live on FOX Sports.

The first friendly confrontations take place on August 1. The clubs received permission from the cabinet on Wednesday to train in groups and organize competitions from 1 July.

The KNVB wants to start the new season in the Eredivisie on 12 and 13 September. Fans must adhere to the one and a half meter rule during league matches, so the stadiums are likely to be about a third full.

The practice games in August are subject to approval by local authorities. It is not yet known whether there is also a public welcome, where the duels will be finished and who will compete against each other. This will only be decided at a later stage.

KKD clubs also meet in practice

The clubs from the Kitchen Champion Division will also play friendly matches. The KNVB is still looking for a start date for that competition.

Chairman Jan de Jong of the Eredivisie CV (ECV) is happy with the news about the exhibition games. "We are making great strides. Two months ago no one in the Netherlands thought about football. Let alone that we could start playing football again so soon," he said in a statement from FOX Sports .

"Now behind pillar 2 of the Delta Plan, training in groups and playing (practice) matches, there is already a green tick. Football is on its way to the new normal. That is nice and good news for all football fans, tribute to politics. But in the end we naturally want to return to the old normal in a responsible manner. That is, full stadiums. "
