Former world champion Andy Murray, 33, had gone seven months without playing a tennis match due to the hip injury he sustained for a long time.

Last night he made a comeback in his brother Jamie's charity tournament "Battle of the Brits" and then he beat 211-ranked Liam Broady by a clear 6-2, 6-2.

"No surprise that many have tested positive"

The hips kept perfectly okay, but it's still far from perfect.

- If you look at how I hit the ball, I'm not where I want to be. It's good to get matches to see how my hip responds to playing three days in a row. It's not the highest level, but it's a good level, Murray said after the game.

He also seized the opportunity to talk about Novak Djokovic's now canceled tour Adria Tour, after which Djokovic himself and three other players were infected by covid-19.

- It should never have gotten off. Having seen the pictures from the players' party and the children's day, it comes as no surprise that many have been tested positive. It was no social distance, he said.

Want to join the US Open

Murray also took the opportunity to show his support for Black Lives Matter.

- Some people see it as a radical thing, but personally I don't. I just feel that everyone should be treated equally, regardless of gender, skin color, background or religion.

In connection with the comeback, Murray has also opened to participate in the US Open beginning August 31.

"It's something I plan to do - as long as it's safe," he writes in a chronicle at the BBC.
