The rumor has been around for several weeks. It's now official: Bernard Blaquart and Nîmes Olympique, it's over. In a press release issued on Tuesday, the club announced that it had terminated, by "mutual agreement", the contract that bound him to the coach.

The technician had, in November 2015, "taken the reins of the first team in full turmoil during a season marked by the eight penalty points" in L2, notes the club.

"Infinitely grateful"

Nîmes Olympique salutes the coach who enabled him to access Ligue 1 after 25 years away from the elite. "Bernard Blaquart has undeniably marked the history of Nîmes Olympique", indicates the Gard club, whose "management and all the members" say "infinitely grateful for the results obtained", wishing him "good luck".

It is Jérôme Arpinon, hitherto assistant coach, who will take charge of the first team "in the continuity of the sports project set up with Bernard Blaquart".

The Gard team was maintained this year in Ligue 1 (18th) thanks to the absence of barrages with the L2, following the interruption of the season by the epidemic of Covid-19.
