January 5-12, 2021, the championship will be decided, in Linköping and Mjölby.

- We see that Swedish girl and women's hockey is developing and interest is growing with it. We have one of the world's best leagues in SDHL and last season the TV boy became a tournament for both girls and boys. There I think there were many who caught the eye of how the hockey developed on the girls side, says Olof Östblom, head of the Swedish Ice Hockey Association for the championship, adding:

- That is why it feels very inspiring to showcase the world's best juniors to the Swedish hockey public.

The world's best nations are participating

The Swedish U18 national team has finished fifth in the last two World Cup tournaments. Once, Sweden has gone to the final, 2017/18.

The world's best nations are participating: Canada, USA, Finland, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland, Czech Republic and Slovakia. And now TV production will be top notch.

- We know that a hockey World Cup at home always engages and therefore it feels very fun to tell that we broadcast all of Sweden's matches as well as the final from the U18 World Cup. We look forward to showing Sweden's many talented juniors and future stars in the Women's Crowns for our large, wide audience, says SVT's Sports Manager Åsa Edlund Jönsson, and continues:

- Last year the TV production was so bad that it could not be shown, but now we at SVT will raise the level and make a TV production worthy of the world's best junior national team on the women's side. We also see an international interest, from other broadcasters, in taking part in television production which is of course gratifying.

- SVT has long had the goal of achieving an equal sports coverage and now we are starting to see more TV companies around the world showing increased interest in women's sports.
