Anicet Mbida introduces us to the new innovation for road safety, it is a reversing radar and blind spots for bikes. As soon as a car arrives in the distance, an alert rings and flashes on the phone so as not to be surprised. Little by little, the safety equipment of cars is arriving on two-wheelers.

There are a lot of innovations on bikes. We still have proof this Monday morning, with a rear anti-collision radar for cyclists.

It is a small box that is fixed behind the saddle. As it is a radar, it will scan everything that passes. And as soon as a car approaches, he will signal it either on a box attached to the handlebars, or directly on his mobile phone.

It will then vibrate and display lights: red, when a car arrives very quickly or when it is very close. Oranges, when it stays at a good distance. And green when nobody is there.

The advantage is that the radar also acts as a rear light. The closer the car gets, the faster it will flash to ensure that the cyclist will be seen.

Does it also work for blind spots?

It is also designed above all for blind spots and to prevent that we will pass you or pass close enough. It is always stressful on a bicycle to be overtaken by a bus or a driver who is going a little fast. So be warned.

It may sound like a gadget, but there is a trend right now: transposing car safety equipment on two wheels. There are already helmets and airbag vests, automatic warning systems in the event of a fall, or even mini-mirrors which are fixed at the end of the handlebars, on the edge, and which open and close. close with a valve. It is convenient. When you don't use it, you fold it up and there is nothing left.

It's expensive ?

No, 20 euros for the rear view mirror. The other equipment is still top of the range: 150 euros for the rear radar, 300 euros for helmets and airbag vests. But you can adapt them on any bike, even self-service ones.
