Spanish justice dismissed Friday Neymar, who had initiated proceedings against FC Barcelona to claim the payment of 43.6 million euros in extension premium not collected after his transfer to PSG, and ordered him to reimburse 6 , 79 million euros to his former club.

No amicable agreement

By putting an end to his Barcelona contract before the end of the latter, the Brazilian "did not have the right to receive the sum" which he asked for, and "will have to reimburse the club the excess of the extension premium received, for terminating his contract without proof, "wrote a Barcelona court in a judgment rendered on Friday.

The case concerns the bonus, the exact amount of which has never been published, promised to the player in 2016 when he agreed to extend his contract until 2021, and the payment of which was to be paid in installments. A year after signing this agreement, Neymar had left for PSG, for the record amount of 222 million euros, and the Catalan club had refused to pay him the remaining 26 million euros of the premium. The two parties had failed to reach an amicable agreement.
