Sam Oomen will drive for Jumbo-Visma from next season, according to various media on Thursday. De Brabander comes over from Team Sunweb and will be reunited with his former teammate Tom Dumoulin.

According to De Telegraaf and the AD , 24-year-old Oomen and Jumbo-Visma have already reached an agreement verbally, but the signatures have yet to be placed. Earlier this year, Dumoulin already switched from Sunweb to the Dutch WorldTour formation.

Oomen has been playing for Sunweb since 2016, where he has an expiring contract. He was the master servant of Dumoulin in the 2018 Giro d'Italia, who then finished second behind Chris Froome. The born Tilburger himself drove to a creditable ninth place in the final classification.

Last year, Oomen had a disastrous season. He had to give up in the Giro d'Italia after a crash, sustaining a broken hip. A few weeks later, he also had to have surgery on a pinched femoral artery and his season was over. In February of this year, he made his comeback in the Tour of Provence.

The Plus will most likely leave for INEOS

The departure of Oomen would be offset by the departure of Laurens De Plus. After this season, the Belgian climber will most likely exchange Jumbo-Visma for Team INEOS.

The 24-year-old De Plus acted as master servant of Steven Kruijswijk in last year's Tour de France, who finished third. A few weeks later, the Fleming won the BinckBank Tour, his only professional victory to date.
