UEFA's executive committee will meet on Wednesday to decide the remainder of the Champions League season. How and where will the most important European club tournament be completed? And what about the Europa League? An overview of the most likely scenario.

Four eighth-finals are yet to be played in the Champions League: Juventus-Olympique Lyon, Manchester City-Real Madrid, FC Barcelona-Napoli and Bayern Munich-Chelsea. The four returns will 'simply' take place in Turin, Manchester, Barcelona and Munich. RB Leipzig, Atlético Madrid, Atalanta and Paris Saint-Germain are already quarterfinals.

Due to the corona measures, the remaining matches are unlikely to be played across Europe. Judging by a leaked proposal, UEFA therefore plans to end the Champions League season with a tournament from 12 to 23 August in Lisbon.

This plan will ensure the safety of the clubs and the quarter and semi-finals will be decided on one match, as will the final, of course, which would actually be played on May 30 in Istanbul.

The matches are expected to be completed - one per day - in the stadiums of Benfica (Estádio da Luz) and Sporting CP (Estádio José Alvalade) and no public is welcome.

Probably CL scenario

  • August 12-15: Quarter Finals (Lisbon)
  • August 18-19: semifinals (Lisbon)
  • August 23: final (Lisbon)

Europa League duels in Germany?

According to the leaked UEFA plan, Germany, which was also in the picture for the Champions League matches, will become the location for the remaining Europa League matches in August, according to the same concept as in Lisbon. The closely situated cities of Düsseldorf, Gelsenkirchen, Cologne and Duisburg are shown as hosts.

The tournament with our eastern neighbors probably lasts from August 10 to 21, also without spectators and with quarter and semifinals over one game.

In the eighth finals, both duels have not yet been played with Sevilla-AS Roma and Internazionale-Getafe. It means that those confrontations will also be limited to one confrontation on German soil before August 10.

The home clubs play in the returns of the other posters in the eighth final (Shakhtar Donetsk-VfL Wolfsburg, Bayer Leverkusen-Glasgow Rangers, Wolverhampton Wanderers-Olympiacos, FC Copenhagen-Istanbul Basaksehir, Manchester United-LASK and FC Basel-Eintracht Frankfurt). own stadium.

Probably EL scenario

  • August 10-13: quarterfinals (Germany)
  • August 16-17: semifinals (Germany)
  • August 21: final (Germany)
