It is the International Football Association Board (IFAB) that has decided to change the rules of the game in the senior league series. In total, there are 14 rule changes. Two of them concern the hand rule where, for example, the border between the arm and the shoulder / shoulder is now defined as the bottom of the armpit.

In the past, unintentional hands are penalized between the striker's hand and the ball should only be penalized at or the target chance. Now it will only apply if it happens immediately before the goal / goal chance.

As for the offside rule, a player is now considered not to gain an advantage if you receive the ball after it has been played from an opponent's hand in an unauthorized manner.

Some other rule changes:

  •  Players are not immediately warned if the referee applies a so-called quick free kick
  •  Players are warned if they do not respect the distance of four meters when dropping
  •  All rule violations that stop promising attacks should be warned
  •  Warnings are not included in a penalty shootout
  • If a goalkeeper commits a foul on a penalty and the player misses the goal, the goalkeeper is not penalized

Here you will find all 14 rule changes

Temporary changes

In addition to IFAB's rule changes, SvFF's Federal Board has decided that a suspension should be made after four warnings instead of three during the 2020 season. The decision was made after consultation with the relevant interest organizations Swedish elite football (SEF), Elite football women (EFD) and one football and the judging committee.
