Even before the injury to the young center-back Alexander Abrahamsson, Djurgården was said to be in search of strength in the center defense. When Abrahamsson's injury would keep him out of play for six weeks, the need grew even larger with only Erik Berg and Jacob Une Larsson purifying center backs in the squad. Now Sports Manager Bosse Andersson has blocked the hole with a sensitive transition.

Jesper Nyholm joined Djurgården's big rival AIK 2017. A year later Nyholm suffered a nightmare injury when he was stamped with a leg fracture in a match against Örebro in the Swedish Cup. The 27-year-old was until 2019 still under contract with AIK who then chose to release him. So he is ready for Djurgården during the last self-proclaimed hours of the transfer window.

- We ended up in a very tough situation when we found out that Abrahamsson couldn't play for over six weeks. In consultation with Kim (Bergstrand) and "Tolle" (Thomas Lagerlöf) we came to the conclusion that this is the best solution, says Djurgården's sports manager Bosse Andersson to SVT Sport.

Jesper Nyholm has not played a match in over two years and will not be relevant for games during tomorrow's premiere against Sirius.

- He is not scheduled to play tomorrow, he joins the squad on Monday. We have a full understanding of his situation and we simply get to see how his development with Djurgården will be, ”says Andersson.
