UEFA will discuss in a video conference next week how to finish the Champions League and Europa League. The two club competitions have been standing still since March because of the corona crisis.

The UEFA Executive Committee meeting will be spread over two days: Wednesday from 12:00 to 15:00 and Thursday from 9:00 to 11:00. On the first day, the football association will consider the Champions League and the Europa League, but also (the play-offs for) the European Championship in 2021.

In the Champions League, four returns are yet to be completed in the eighth finals: Juventus-Olympique Lyon, Manchester City-Real Madrid, FC Barcelona-Napoli and Bayern Munich-Chelsea. RB Leipzig, Atlético Madrid, Atalanta and Paris Saint-Germain have already secured a place in the last eight.

In the Europa League, all returns in the eighth finals have yet to be played, while in the diptychs Sevilla-AS Roma or Internazionale-Getafe both duels still have to be made up.

UEFA may choose to change the league format due to a lack of space on the calendar. Reportedly, the Football Association plans to have the quarter-finals and semi-finals complete in one instead of two matches and all matches played in one or two countries.

There is also a chance that the locations of the finals will be moved. The final battle of the Champions League would be settled in Istanbul and the final of the Europa League in Gdansk, Poland. Madrid has even volunteered to host the Champions League final.
