This autumn, the trial will start against a former employee of the Swedish Ice Hockey Association. That after a suspected sexual assault on an employee during a tournament last winter. The incident has also led to the Hockey Association being notified to the Swedish Work Environment Authority.

Yesterday an inspection was carried out and the authority has drawn up an inspection notice. In the inspection notice, the Hockey Association had three requirements and the authority requires, among other things, that they make an external investigation of the working environment.

- The survey concerns working conditions with regard to organizational and social factors. It will also cover the incidence of harassment, sexual harassment and abusive treatment. The Swedish Work Environment Authority does not handle individual cases, but if we have general questions we want the employer to find out what it looks like in the business linked to this, says Jenny Bengtsson, work environment inspector at the Work Environment Authority, to SVT Sport.

Follow-up inspection

Next autumn, a follow-up inspection awaits. When the survey is complete, the employer must decide what risks exist and then set up an action plan that is timed with specific measures to be implemented.

- We mean that you cannot know what actions to take if you do not know the extent of the problem. Therefore, they have been required to announce their activities with a focus on harassment, sexual harassment and abusive discrimination.

Takes seriously

Jenny Bengtsson feels that the Swedish Ice Hockey Association takes the situation seriously and is prepared to do what it takes.

- It should also be added that they have already begun extensive work, which they showed when we met. What we are putting on now is this study so that they come right.

How seriously do you see incidents of sexual harassment?

- It is a major problem in working life, and unfortunately an issue that is often handled as individual cases. Then you will not be able to solve what is a bigger problem than an individual event. We think it is important to take a bigger grip and it is clear that we find it a major problem with sexual harassment and various types of offenses.
