68-year-old Sören Åkeby, who led Djurgården to the Swedish gold in 2002 and 2003, received a role in Östersunds FK as late as last month, which then announced that Åkeby has become part of the club's sports committee.

But the collaboration fell short. Today, just three days before the Swedish premiere, ÖFK announced that they have chosen to cancel the collaboration with Åkeby. This after the Football Channel brought to the attention of the club's chairman Mathias Rasteby that Åkeby shared several xenophobic posts on Facebook.

"We're at war!"

A post, which he shared two days before he was presented by ÖFK on May 21, mentioned that a boy who tried to stave off a rape would have been murdered by a "racial stranger".

“Another Swedish murdered by racial alienation! (The above boy) was knife-killed when he helped a Swedish girl from being raped by a Somali. (The above boy) is a hero and martyr. Do your duty. Resist. Do not stand and watch as your own people are murdered, raped and humiliated. Organize yourself and resist this alien invasion. We are at war! ” it said in the post - which Åkeby deleted after the Football Channel's conversation with him.

"Just forwarded"

Another post that Åkeby shared was that the aid authority Sida puts 52 billion on "all kinds of garbage" and that "unaccompanied refugee children have nothing to do with children".

For the Football Channel, Åkeby claims that he now thinks he has made mistakes that have shared some of the posts.

- I read about it too quickly and just passed it on. I definitely do not have the (thoughts, editorial) lying in the background. I have trained foreign players for more or less my entire life and why should I become a racist? It is not in my world. This can only be forgotten, says Åkeby, who also states that he believes that Sweden has been affected by a "foreign invasion" and is at war:

- No absolutely not. It is not in my world. I apologize to all those who have misinterpreted it and that I have misinterpreted it. I'm not behind it.

"Takes direct distance"

Thus, Åkeby deleted the posts after the Football Channel's post, but was still fired from the club.

“The collaboration ends because it has become known that posts from Sören Åkeby that are published on social media directly contradict ÖFK's values. Östersunds FK directly distances from the posts that have been shared and published. It is obvious that Östersund FK's routines were broken regarding control before the collaboration began. We will now strengthen these routines, ”the club writes on its website.
