A Brazilian LGBT activist filed a complaint against Neymar at the São Paulo public prosecutor's office for homophobia, after the PSG attacker called his own mother's companion a "little fag." The prosecution confirmed to AFP that it had received the complaint, which must now be studied by a prosecutor, responsible for deciding whether or not to prosecute the Brazilian star.
Activist Agripino Magalhaes, who is not directly involved in the case, announced on Instagram on Monday that he plans to file a complaint for "the crime of homophobia and hate speech." The entourage of the 28-year-old striker declined to comment on this information.
Audio recording leaks
The homophobic insults were heard in an audio recording of the player's private conversation with several leaked friends in the press. Neymar treats Tiago Ramos, 22, boyfriend of his mother Nadine Gonçalves, 52, of "fagot" and "motherfucker". One of his friends said that he should "put a broom in the ass".
Nadine Gonçalves made public her relationship with the young man in April and the scandal press had revealed shortly after that the latter was bisexual. A year ago, Neymar had been accused of rape by a Brazilian woman whom he had brought to Paris after an online flirtation, but the case had been dismissed for lack of conclusive evidence.
