Gay, bisexual and transgender rights activist filed a complaint with the Public Prosecution Office in São Paulo regarding homophobia against Brazilian football star Neymar, who described his mother's partner as a "homosexual".

The Public Prosecution confirmed to Agence France Presse that it received the complaint, which the Attorney General will study, and decide whether or not to sue the Paris Saint-Germain striker.

The activist Agrippino Magaliais, who is not directly involved in the case, had announced Monday in his account on "Instagram" his intention to file a complaint about "homophobia and hate speech."

People close to the Brazilian star declined to comment on the news.

Anti-gay insults were heard in a leaked audio recording during a private conversation between Neymar and his friends.

Neymar described the young Thiago Ramos, 22, his mother's partner, Nadine Gonsalves, 52, as a "small gay" and another derogatory word.

Gonçalves announced her relationship with Ramos last April, while media later revealed that Ramos was bisexual.

Neymar was discussing with his friends the allegations of the fight between his mother and Ramos, the latter was then transferred from the home of Gonçalves to the hospital last Tuesday with wounds in his hand, according to the police.

Neymar said that his mother lied to her family, pointing out that he did not believe her story that her partner stumbled on the stairs and injured his hand with a glass plate, expecting that Ramos was abusing his mother and in a state of great anger when he punched the balcony window and wounded himself.

According to neighbors, they heard screams from a fight at Gonsalves' home on the night that Vihar Ramos was injured, while the mother of the Brazilian national team and Ramos indicated in a police report that what happened was "a home accident".

Neymar, 28, was accused of the most expensive football player in the world (222 million euros) a year ago, of raping a Brazilian woman who invited her to a Parisian hotel after courting the Internet, but the case was dropped after taking a report because there was no conclusive evidence.
