During the 2020 season, a temporary rule regarding suspensions will apply in the highest series of football: All Swan, Ladies Swan, Super Eight, Elite and Men's Division One.

Four warnings will be required, instead of three, for a player to be suspended.

Beach most alert 2019

The decision was made in consultation between Swedish elite football, Elite football women and Ettanfotboll, as well as the Swedish Football Association's referees committee and will only apply for the 2020 season.

Simon Strand, defender in Elfsborg, was the player who received the most yellow cards last season - twelve. In an interview with Aftonbladet, he agrees with the new rule.

- Great! That change should have been made for a long time. It's sad when players get turned off so often. It can be very quick to get together three warnings, he tells the newspaper.

"Is my style of play"

However, he says he will focus on something other than the warnings during the season.

- It is my style of play, but I should focus on making more points than drawing on many warnings. Last year I ended up on the wrong foot with the judges.

Five exchanges are allowed

The new rule is one of several measures to reduce the burden on the team which will have tight game schedules this season. Previously, it was also decided to allow five exchanges, rather than three, per match.

The Allsvenskan starts on June 14 and the Ladies Swan on June 27-28.
