The players' association letter was published just hours before the Italian Football Association's decision to cancel the rest of the season.

The letter was not a requirement to resume the season - by comparison, the men start the series on June 20 - but rather that the players in the women's Serie A should have better conditions overall, including by everyone becoming a full-time professional.

- It is not the setting that makes it uneven. They have so much better conditions before. That we should try to play with lower conditions, that's what is unacceptable to me, says Empoli's Swedish striker Jenny Hjohlman.

"Bigger step back"

Rather, she thinks it was a wise decision. Now the union can focus on supporting the clubs financially for the next season instead of doing a sea work of the season ending.

- It feels absolutely smarter. I think it is better that we get such an end than we continue the season, that players are injured and that the quality is poor, it would probably have been a major step back.

Another aspect is that the conditions differ markedly also between the different teams in the series. For example, the big team Juventus, who led Serie A when the game was canceled at the end of February, has resumed training for some time. It doesn't have Hjohlman's Empoli.

That a team that has been training for a long time against one that has not been able to keep up is not entirely fair, she says.

- No, of course it's difficult. In such a situation, it is quite clear that some clubs have better conditions. The gaps are increasing even more.

Sembrant without title

Juventus Swedish national team back Linda Sembrant is behind the letter and also wants to see change.

“It's time for change, Italy. We are professional every day but still not treated like professionals. It's not reasonable anymore, ”Sembrant writes on Instagram.

Her Juventus went on to the league title and led the series with nine points with six innings remaining (for the second Fiorentina seven games remained). But no champion has been appointed, the Italian Football Association has decided, writes Italian Sky Sports. However, Juventus and Fiorentina qualify for the Champions League while Orobica and Tavagnacco are moved down to Serie B. Lazio and San Marino are moved up to Serie A.
