Martial arts matches with blows or kicks to the head must be sanctioned by the County Administrative Board in Örebro, which issues temporary permits.

Therefore, the Swedish Taekwondo Association chose to report the illegal match to the National Sports Commission, which has now been suspended by the taekwondo practitioner for two years. The decision cannot be appealed.

“Streetfights do not belong in organized martial arts. It goes against everything we stand for. Those who arrange or contemplate participating in such events should know that they have nothing to do with Swedish taekwondo or martial arts, ”said Sammi Kaidi, chairman of the Swedish taekwondo association, in a press release.

Kaidi says the incident has damaged the reputation of the taekwondon and martial arts and is a threat to organized martial arts which advocates a value basis with pure play.

"We now have a long-standing work ahead of us with value-based issues and norms in Swedish taekwondo that will soon begin," he says.

The federation has informed the other martial arts associations that they are strongly distancing themselves from all forms of unsanctioned matches.
