  • Former international striker Tony Vairelles has announced plans to launch a reality show with footballers.
  • The key for the winner is a one-year contract with a partner French professional club.

“It's about detecting footballers from all over France. At 47, former international striker Tony Vairelles has announced that he wants to launch a reality show with footballers, with the key to the winner being a one-year contract with a French professional club partner.

“We will do technical and physical tests, small games and, after these four days, a group will be selected to spend a short month in a training center. The jury will be made up of personalities like Marius Trésor, Steve Savidan, Pascal Olmeta and Olivier Rouyer ", former footballers like him, explained, in L'Est Républicain , the champion of France 1998 (with Lens) and 2003 (with Lyon).

Preparation like the pros

“The players selected will prepare like pros, supervised by qualified coaches who have already trained in L1. There will be eliminated throughout the show. At the end of the adventure, there will be a match against a professional team which will host, the following season, the winning player. With a one-year pro contract for him, ”continued Vairelles.

The striker, who has 8 selections (1 goal) with the Blues, did not reveal the name of the partner club, but said he had evolved in this formation. He also added that Noël Le Graët, the president of the French Football Federation (FFF), had "given him his approval".

Vairelles, who notably played in Nancy (his hometown), Lens, Lyon, Bordeaux and Bastia, had been talked about in a news story shortly after his departure from Gueugnon in 2011.

Indicted for "violence"

Initially indicted for attempted assassination by gunfire in October 2011 on three nightclub security guards, Vairelles and three of his brothers, who had been held in pre-trial detention for five months at the time, will finally be tried by the Nancy Criminal Court for "violence". The date of the trial is not yet known.

"Without that, I would probably already have signed with a chain. I can understand the reluctance but I have nothing to do with these accusations and yet this story has been rotting my life for more than eight years, I hope it will finally end. In any case, if I have to withdraw from the concept for it to succeed, I will do so without hesitation! ", He told L'Est Républicain .
