Bayer Leverkusen player Florian Vertz became 17 years and 34 days, the youngest scorer in the history of the German Football League when he scored a goal during his team's loss to Bayern Munich 2-4 today, Saturday.

Vertz, who was on the back foot in the second half, managed to get past Bayern Munich defender Luca Hernandez, before he curled from inside the area out of the reach of goalkeeper Manuel Noir at the end of the match.

The previous record was set in the name of the former Borussia Dortmund player Nuri Shaheen, who scored a goal against Nuremberg in 2005 at the age of 17 years and 82 days, that is, when Vertz was only two years old.

Fertz played his first official match with Leverkusen against Werder Bremen last month when he became the third youngest player to play in the Bundesliga League after Shaheen and Jan Pesek (Colin).
