And to say that a year ago, the future of Bayern Munich raised some concerns with the departures of its fabulous wingers Franck Ribéry (gone to Fiorentina) and Arjen Robben (retired)… The supporters of the flagship of Bavaria are reassured : even without the French and the Dutch, their offensive potential remains impressive. Proof of this is still the new performance signed on the 30th day of the German Championship on Saturday 6 June on the lawn of Bayer Leverkusen (4-2). A match in which both teams paid homage to George Floyd and wore "Black Lives Matter" armbands.

An average of three goals scored per game

The leader admittedly opened the scoring early in this meeting (by Lucas Alario in the 10th), but Kingsley Coman (27th), Leon Goretzka (42nd) and Serge Gnabry (45th) set the record straight. In the second half, Robert Lewandowski worsened the score (66th). In the last minutes, Florian Wirtz has just mitigated the extent of the defeat for the Bayer (4-2). For the record, Wirtz has become, from the height of his 17 years and 34 days, the youngest goalscorer in the history of the Bundesliga.

For Bayern Munich, a real path to the title of German champion has opened. With 70 points, the players of coach Hans-Dieter Flick have a comfortable lead over Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig (60 points and 59 points before the start of the 30th day). And statistically, the numbers are panicking.

Since the resumption of the Bundesliga in mid-May after more than two months of stoppage linked to the coronavirus crisis, Bayern Munich has alternated between victories (2-0 against Union Berlin, 1-0 against Borussia Dortmund) and big offensive cards (5-2 against Eintracht Frankfurt, 5-0 against Fortuna Düsselford, 4-2 against Bayer Leverkusen). Thus after 30 days, the Bavarians have 90 goals scored (3 goals / match on average), a record at this stage of the season.

50-year-old record in danger, Lewandowski and Müller on top

Bayern Munich is even in the running to break its own historic record: in 1971-1972, at the time of Sepp Maier, Franz Beckenbauer, Uli Hoeness or even Gerd Müller, the squad led by Udo Lattek had scored 101 goals. During this particular 2019-2020 season, the FCB can do even better. If they maintain their average, the probable future champions will finish with the trifle of 102 goals scored.

Author of a third of Bayern's league goals (30 goals), Robert Lewandowski still crossed a course against Leverkusen. The Pole signed his new personal goals record for all competitions. Between the Bundesliga, the German Cup and the Champions League, the striker has 44 goals on the clock. And he has a few matches left to do even better…

Another player who stood out: Thomas Müller. The attacking midfielder, famous for his versatility, distributed two assists against Bayer (one for Coman, the other for Goretzka). So that makes him 20 assists in the Bundesliga since the start of the season. The record established by Belgian Kevin De Bruyne with Wolfsburg in 2014-2015 is equaled. Rendezvous on June 13 against Borussia Mönchengladbach for the next one?
