After having used three coaches (Alain Casanova, Antoine Kombouaré and Denis Zanko) before the premature end of the Ligue 1 season, three months ago, the TFC is preparing to welcome a new tenant on its bench. Relegated to Ligue 2 unless the Council of State decides otherwise, the Toulouse club, soon to be under the American flag, has set its sights on Patrice Garande.

According to La Dépêche du Midi , the experienced 59-year-old technician, who could not be reached this Friday at the start of the afternoon, would hold the rope far in front of outsiders such as Réginald Ray (ex-Valenciennes and Le Mans, especially). He would have already discussed with Damien Comolli, the next president of Les Violets.

Without club for two years

Former international striker (a selection) from Saint-Etienne and Auxerre (in particular), 1984 Olympic champion, Garande has known only two clubs as head coach. The native of Oullins, in the Lyon suburbs, first officiated in Cherbourg from 1999 to 2004, in CFA then in National, before staying in Normandy but going to Caen, whose first team he led from 2012 to 2018.

After obtaining the rise in Ligue 1 with Malherbe in 2014, Garande signed four maintainings in the elite. He left the club at the end of his contract in June 2018. For two years, he has been looking for a new employer. If he joins Toulouse, his mission will obviously be to get Les Violets back in L1 as quickly as possible.
