Åsa Hedin becomes the first female chairman of the Swedish Tennis Association. But that particular detail is not something she thinks of herself, but focuses more on the task.

- I don't know if I thought about that much. I just think it's fun to be part of the tennis team. It is great fun when you have been playing tennis in different forms all your life to be able to join and give back, she tells SVT Sport.

Now she looks forward to working with everything from young people to seniors. But the most important challenge is getting new tennis players.

- What is challenging is driving club development, increasing members. In general, we see that sports Sweden is losing young people. Now the tennis association has been spared, but it is more difficult to get young people into sports. So the challenge is to continue to make tennis attractive.

Former tennis pro new to the board

Hedin will be assisted by the board of directors, Johanna Larsson, who as late as February ended her career. And her experience from ten years on the WTA tour is something that will give much Hedin believes.

- We are very grateful that Johanna chose to work with us just on the board. She is the one who has the most current experience of being on the tour, playing elite and so on. A very driven and wise person.
