Barcelona football captain Lionel Messi said that football or life itself will not return to normal after the pandemic of the emerging Corona virus.

Football activity has stopped in Spain since last March due to the health crisis, which saw more than 27,000 deaths in the country, although the Spanish League will resume on June 11.

Barcelona's official website quoted extracts from Messi's comments to the Spanish newspaper El Pais on Sunday, saying, "I think football, like life in general, will never be the same."

"Returning to training and competitions and doing the usual things normally should start again now, but gradually, it will be a strange situation for us and anyone who should change the usual work dynamics," Messi said.

"A lot of people have gone through a very difficult time because this situation affected them in some way, as happened to all those who lost their families and friends and were not even able to bid them farewell."

The scorer of the Catalan team added, "There can be nothing worse than losing the people you love so much, which creates great frustration for me, and it seems the most unfair thing at all."

Barcelona top the La Liga ranking, two points ahead of its closest rivals, traditional rivals Real Madrid, 11 stages before the end of the season.

The remaining matches of the tournament are scheduled to take place without an audience, under a strict security protocol to ensure optimum safety conditions for players and employees.
