Basketball star Lebron James was one of the first sports stars to make a critical statement about the police violence that created unrest in the United States last week.

- Do you understand NOW !! ?? !! ?? Or is it still unclear to you ?, he wrote on Instagram.

Along with the text, he posted a photo of a knee-jerk Colin Kaepernick, the NFL player who got a lot of attention in the 2016 season when he protested against police violence and was later kicked out of his club. Next to Kaepernick you see the picture of George Floyd being pressed down by a police officer with his knee.

The picture has been commented on by almost five million people and a day later he posted a picture of himself wearing a t-shirt with the text: "I can´t breath" and under the picture he has written: "PASTING".

"Should get jail - they killed him"

Former alpine star Lindsey Vonn and her husband, hockey player PK Subban, posted live on Instagram talking about George Floyd's death.

- It's so incredibly upsetting on so many levels and I think the cops should get jail. They killed him, says Lindsey Vonn.

- I just want us all to love each other, whether we are black, white, purple or brown, who cares? Enjoy that we are all different, says Subban.

The tennis player, 16-year-old Cori Gauff, also showed her support when she published a picture of 24 black people who died as a result of racism.

"When will it end? When will we be seen as human beings and not a threat? Rest in peace all beautiful souls whose lives ended because of racism. All lives will not matter as much until society really shows that the lives of black people matter. "

"I can't bear my shoulders anymore"

Alpine star Mikaela Shiffrin, who lost her dad earlier this year, followed in the same vein and published an emotional text in social media:

"That may not be my problem ... I'm struggling with a lot of emotions right now. Too many emotions. I can't bear to carry my shoulders anymore. It doesn't affect me directly, so it doesn't matter if I pronounce myself, right now .... wrong, "Shiffrin writes and continues before she finishes the post with:

"Until this world is good again and we start treating each other with respect ... always ... I hope we hear these three words echoing in our heads:" I can´t breath ".
