The total construction area of "Ice Altar" is 33220㎡. The stadium has six floors above ground, one underground and two local floors. The height of the main building is 30 meters. One layer of ice rink is China's first standard curling training venue, and the third layer of ice rink is a short-track speed skating training venue for the Beijing Winter Olympic Games in 2022, which will provide professional training venues for the national team. The venue also includes scientific research and rehabilitation rooms, athletes 'dormitories, restaurants, athletes' physical training and medical rehabilitation facilities, which will provide athletes with a full range of logistics support.
"Ice altar" is the first venue in China that uses CO2 transcritical direct-cooling ice rinks. It fully utilizes the technical advantages of the CO2 supercritical ice-making process and realizes comprehensive consumption reduction and energy utilization. Its energy-saving and environmental protection performance is outstanding, and has reached the international leading standard of green sustainability.
During the construction process, the ice rink is the most critical part and the biggest challenge. According to the plan, the Winter Games Center is rebuilding and expanding the existing Capital Gymnasium, Capital Ice Skating Stadium, First Sports Complex and Athlete Apartments, together with the newly built Winter Games Center Comprehensive Training Hall "Ice Altar" and the Winter Olympics Games Center, forming a competition The stadium, three training venues, two supporting facilities, a total of six main buildings as the core of the first sports park.
