The LASK, leader of the Austrian Bundesliga, has lost the first place this Thursday after being sanctioned by the organizing committee with a deduction of six points and a fine of 75,000 euros for having violated the security protocol to avoid contagions by coronavirus.

The sanction - imposed by the Senate of the competition - was announced in the early afternoon, and makes LASK second placed in the League in favor of Red Bull Salzburg , with 24 points, which becomes the new leader of the competition.

The Austrian team, rival of Manchester United this year in the Europa League, was punished for "having violated the safety rules in various training sessions", a measure that has already been denounced by the rest of the competition's clubs in order to prevent the disease.

The LASK will now appeal the decision , as confirmed, and may even make a third appeal before the measure is final. The League in Austria resumes on June 2 with ten days to go.
