A report posted online by the Professional Football League indicates that the LFP has set the start of the Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 championships "on August 23 and 22 respectively". This calendar is however provisional, pending the announcements of UEFA on European competitions.

The board of directors of the LFP has "fixed (é) the start of the championships of Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 respectively on August 23 and 22, 2020", indicates a report posted online by the Professional Football League.

A provisional timetable

In the document, consulted on Saturday by AFP, the LFP specifies that it is only a provisional calendar, pending announcements that UEFA must make on its European competitions at the next executive committee on June 17. "However, beyond the final dates of the competition days, after consultations with the Médiapro, Canal + and beIN Sports broadcasters, the start of season dates can be set on August 22 for Ligue 2 and August 23 for League 1" , is it written.

The League met its board of directors on Wednesday but has not communicated since on these dates. On April 30, after having enacted the final cessation of the 2019-2020 fiscal year, the executive director general Dider Quillot had indicated that the League wanted to start the following season "at the latest" on August 22 and 23.

Programming of "pending" finals

Among the major championships in Europe, France is the only one where the end of the season has been finalized, at the government's injunction. The Bundesliga resumed last weekend and the Liga is expected to restart in the week of June 8. Discussions are continuing in Italy and England. The fate of the League Cup (PSG / Lyon) and Coupe de France (PSG / Saint-Etienne) finals remains uncertain.

According to the minutes of the League, "the programming of the finals of the League Cup and the French Cup is still awaiting more precise information from the Government to consider the conditions of their organizations".
