Antibodies will be tested on athletes to resume professional boxing at 19:13 on May 22

Regarding domestic professional boxing where all matches have been canceled due to the effect of the new coronavirus, the JBC = Japan Boxing Commission etc. has been infected to athletes who participate in the aim of restarting from July. I decided to carry out an antibody test to check if there is any.

All domestic matches for professional boxing have been canceled since February 28th, but JBC and Japan Professional Boxing Association are aiming for a restart from July with no spectators in principle.

On the 22nd, JBC and the Association discussed measures to prevent infection with the new coronavirus.

As a result, when the game was restarted, it was decided to carry out an antibody test to check the players, seconds, and other related persons who had been infected with the new coronavirus.

We plan to carry out the test twice a week, three weeks before the game and the day before the match. Regarding the response when it is positive, we are considering making a manual with the guidance of multiple experts.

In addition, for boxing gyms that are refraining from their activities, we plan to create a unified guideline, including measures to prevent infections, in order to resume business.

"I want to do what I can to maximize the risk of infection to zero," said Takeshi Yasukochi, Executive Director of JBC.
