Today, the Italian Football Association's board of directors announced that they have decided on a series of changes to their regulations.

What probably grabs the most interest from the fans is that they still keep the door open to end the season, and how it could be implemented. The three highest leagues have until August 20 to complete the season. The following season should then start a little over a week later: September 1st.

The Cup in the semi-finals

Twelve rounds remain of Serie A. The Italian Cup reached the semi-finals when the season was canceled.

However, exactly how the end of the season is to be decided is not. The Italian federation writes in a statement that they are considering playing a "short playoff and a short relegation race".

They also announce that if the season is interrupted, points will determine which teams will leave and move up.
