The general assembly of the Professional Football League (LFP) adopted on Wednesday the principle of an enlarged Ligue 2 from 20 to 22 teams next season. This decision, taken by a small majority of the general assembly according to three sources close to the deliberations, should allow Orléans and Le Mans, the last two of L2 at the time of the interruption of the season, to avoid relegation while welcoming the promoted Pau and Dunkirk.

Le Graët's opposition

However, this decision must still be validated by the executive committee of the French Football Federation (FFF) to be fully acted upon. However, its president Noël Le Graët has said on several occasions that he wants promotions and relegations at all levels of French football. The Team  confirms that it could well oppose it so as not to create a case law that would be useful for the clubs concerned in Ligue 1 and in the amateur championships.

Amiens, relegated from the L1 to the L2, notably indicated wanting the passage of the elite to 22 clubs for the next season, by also filing two appeals to the Administrative Court of Paris.
