• Froome: I thought about leaving the Ineos

Borussia Dortmund-Schalke 04 cycling will be the Tour of Burgos. The International Cycling Union has announced this Tuesday what the racing calendar will be for the rest of 2020, after having previously developed the World Tour test calendar . The first in which first division teams will participate will be the Burgos race, a test that usually serves as a set-up for the Vuelta a España and that this year will reopen the calendar after the pandemic.

The news, in fact, supposes the confirmation that the Tour of Burgos will take place on the dates that were initially planned , between July 28 and August 1, somewhat earlier than was usual in previous years. It will be the first contact for riders who think about running the Tour, which is scheduled to start a month later, on August 29.

The Spanish event belongs to the Pro category , which implies that first and second division teams compete in it. On the day that ends, Strade Bianche will take place and the Ruta de Occitania will begin, races that lost their original dates due to the health crisis.

Without the Basque Country or Catalonia

The Vuelta a Burgos will be the only week-long race to be held in Spain for the remainder of the year. Both the Tour of the Basque Country and the Volta to Catalonia gave up looking for a new gap in the calendar after not being able to compete during the beginning of spring. Asturias, Castilla y León and Madrid will not be contested either , in addition to several one-day races such as Estella. Apart from Burgos and the Vuelta itself, the Getxo Circuit will run in Spain (August 2) and the Clásica de Ordizia (October 12), the only one that has sought an alternative date.

The national championships for both men and women will also take place between August 20 and 23. In females, the events of Durango (July 26), Navarra (October 1) and the Madrid Challenge (November 6 to 8) will be held.

All these careers are, of course, at the expense of how the health crisis evolves and the decisions that different governments may take. In Spain, professional careers will be authorized from Phase 2 of the de-escalation, so there would be no problem in that regard. It is also expected that by that time the Government has already lifted the obligation to comply with a 14-day quarantine for all foreigners arriving in Spain.
