UEFA President Alexander Chevron said that the UEFA continental federation is planning to end the 2019-2020 season by next August, including the Champions League and European League.

Most of the European leagues stopped in March in light of the ongoing Covid-19 virus crisis, but some championships revealed plans to return matches in the coming weeks.

France and the Netherlands canceled the two leagues, but the German league matches came back to life on Saturday, and Chevrin expects to complete the season in at least 80 percent of the tournaments.

"We have an idea, but we have to wait until UEFA's executive committee confirms the dates. I can say the European season will end in August if everything remains as it is now," Chevrin said on television.

"I think most of the leagues will complete the season. And the championships that will not complete the season are the decision-makers. But they will have to play qualifiers if they want to participate in the European championships," the European official added.

It has not yet completed the round of 16 games in the European Champions League and in the European League.
