Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, the Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports, issued a decision to form a medical committee to propose and follow up any health variables related to sports and youth activity in Egypt and to coordinate with the medical and administrative authorities concerned in organizing championships, festivals and sporting events, and those related to advancing the elements of the sports system.

Subhi said in an official statement today, Saturday, that this matter comes within the framework of the state’s keenness and plan to implement all preventive and precautionary measures to confront the implications of the emerging Corona virus.

He added that the committee is concerned with following up the development of the spread of the Corona virus and taking precautionary measures to combat it and the necessary measures regarding the country’s exposure to viruses or medical diseases that affect the sports community, as well as proposing a mechanism for medical communication with all institutions and organizations and ministries concerned with the matter, including the Medical Committee of the Council of Ministers and the Medical Committee of the Egyptian Olympic Committee And the medical committees of the various sports federations to serve the medical system and the medical coverage of sporting events.

Sobhi explained that the committee would follow up on the health care of players of national projects that are supervised or implemented by the Ministry of Youth and Sports as well as players and players of the national project for talent and the Olympic champion, and propose and follow up the necessary measures towards providing full medical insurance for all championships, events and sport festivals hosted by Egypt, and work to Providing all medical and health equipment for sporting events through full coordination with all ministries and agencies concerned in this regard.

The Minister of Sports confirmed that an integrated plan and a guide for the application of precautionary and preventive measures have been made in many sports and activities, and will be announced after discussion and final approval by the Council of Ministers.

 It is noteworthy that sports activities were suspended in Egypt in March as a precautionary measure to address the spread of Corona virus in the country.
