The wooden mile in Holmenkollen is a race that the ski world looks forward to every year, as does Ingvild Flugstad Östberg. But when the competition, which after the corona pandemic closed down the ski season, became the last of the season would be lost, Östberg was not on the starting line.

The 29-year-old met the press on crutches and had to tell her that she had incurred a stress invoice in his heel. The prediction then was that the plaster could be removed after 5-6 weeks and that the star could return in full training on May 1st. Two weeks after the postponed date, Östberg is not yet able to carry out normal running training.

- It will take longer before it is completely good. I can't run down stairs or go out and train for three hours. You have to take things step by step. It feels like things are going a little slow, but you have to have patience, ”says Östberg to NRK.

When she can be back in full form she does not yet know.

- No one has a good answer to that, no one around me can say a date. I wish it was June 1st, July 1st or August, but it's not that easy, says Östberg.

Östberg's season was largely defined by the competition stoppage she was imposed after problems with training volume and nutritional intake. The ski star herself says she learned a lot from the process.

- You have to find a balance with your training, intake and energy balance. I hope I can find a good way to do it. I want to ski so that's something I have to work with, ”says Östberg to NRK.
