Uwe Rösler was allowed to leave Malmö FF in December, but already a month later he was presented as Düsseldorf's new coach. However, there were not many matches until the corona pandemic extinguished all games in the Bundesliga in March.

Now Rösler has been waiting for two months to restart. And when the Bundesliga starts playing matches again on Saturday, he is cautiously positive about the plan that exists.

"All together"

- We are all together and I believe in what the league association DFL and the club set up, that we have created something safe. That's why I decided to be a part of it, says Rösler.

He says there have been many and lengthy discussions with the club's players' council and individual players. Several have expressed concern, but no one has refused to play.

Unlike the Swedish elite players, the German teams have not been able to train together. Individual training has so slowly been changed to exercises in smaller groups and not until Thursday could the whole team train together.

Important match

This week, all players in the Bundesliga League are in quarantine. On Saturday, Düsseldorf will meet Paderborn in the restart. It will be an important match, Düsseldorf is in qualifying, four points ahead of Paderborn who is last.

But the sport is not the most important thing right now.

"I definitely think football can break up the depression a little bit," Rösler told Sydsvenskan.

- I hope we can play and make people think of something other than corona and worry about the future with jobs, health and finances. That we can help them enjoy 90 minutes.
