In an interview with SVT Sport yesterday, Piteå's chairman Rikard Fahlman opened to play the ladies' swan in a single series.

As the ladies 'Swedish start has been moved forward, weekly matches will be required to compile the game schedule if the ladies' game is to be played as usual with double meetings.

It is going to be difficult financially, says Fahlman.

- It is one thing if you are a full-time professional like on the men's side but for our players in damallsvenskan the players have a job to manage as well. If we go down to Skåne and play on a weekday, it takes working days and then it becomes expensive to replace, Fahlman told SVT Sport yesterday.

"Every match becomes like a final"

A survey of all Damall Swedish clubs, such as the Football Channel, shows that there is some support for a single series. But half of the clubs are negative about the idea.

- It is probably not good for anyone, how many away and home matches do you get? And every match will be like a final… But it needs to be accepted if it is the only alternative in the end, says Rosengård's sports manager Therese Sjögran to TV4-Sporten.

Gothenburg coach Mats Gren told SVT Sport that he did not like the idea that the ladies' swan should be decided as a single series.

"I'm not going to say it's stupid, but if you can play the whole series you should do it," he said yesterday.

- A single series will not be entirely fair. Some teams may play six away matches and five at home. It's not optimal. Above all, not one this year when the winner goes straight into the Champions League group stage.
