The president of the FFBB, Jean-Pierre Siutat, was delighted to have been able to maintain meetings of the group phase and quarter-finals in France. "However, it was no longer possible to host the final phase as initially planned, the health situation, the postponement of municipal elections and other major events no longer allow us to organize the last round in the best conditions" , he regretted.
Despite the one-year postponement of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics (July 23-August 8, 2021) due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the International Federation (Fiba) maintained the Ladies' Euro in 2021. Continental competition will serve as a dress rehearsal and launch pad for the Olympic Games.
