Algerian star Riad Mahrez revealed that he would have joined Liverpool before signing Manchester City, had it not been for the Reds' contract with Egyptian star Mohamed Salah.

Mehrez, 29, joined Manchester City from Leicester during the summer transfer window in 2018, in a record deal of $ 74 million, to become the most expensive Arab player ever.

"Liverpool Eco" quoted Mehrez's remarks in an Instagram interview via "DZFoot", in which he said, "Before joining Manchester City, Liverpool was interested in contracting me, but it ended up as soon as (the Reds) contracted with Salah."

Salah achieved great success his first season with Liverpool, where he scored 44 goals in all competitions, and crowned the title of top scorer in the English Premier League football.
