Justin Gaethje won the interim title in the lightweight of the UFC on Saturday (local time). Heavyweight Jairzinho Rozenstruik knocked out against Francis Ngannou in twenty seconds in Florida. UFC 249 was the first and much discussed fight night of the MMA association in corona time.
Gaethje won the game with Tony Ferguson with a technical knockout at the end of the fifth round. The two American lightweights turned it into a spectacular battle, in which Ferguson in particular had to take a lot.
Initially, Ferguson would face UFC 249 against defending champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. Due to the fact that the fighter from Dagestan was unable to travel due to corona measures, the UFC had to find a new opponent and it was found with Gaethje.
Gaethje can now call himself interim champion and will have to take on Nurgamomedov on a date to be determined.

Rose bush suffers first MMA defeat
Rose Bush knocked out Frenchman Francis Ngannou after just 20 seconds. With that, the 32-year-old Surinamese suffered his first loss in eleven MMA matches (five of which in the UFC).
Thanks to his victory, Ngannou is ready for a new title fight in the heavyweight. UFC boss Dana White had previously announced that the winner of Ngannou-Rozenstruik would be allowed to compete for the championship belt.
American Henry Cejudo successfully defended his world title in bantam weight. He delivered a technical knockout to challenger and fellow countryman Dominick Cruz at the end of the second round. 33-year-old Cejudo, who won Olympic gold in 2008 as a wrestler, subsequently announced that he would end his career immediately.
Former NFL player Greg Hardy was named the winner by the jury in his battle with Cape Verdean Yorgan de Castro.

Much controversy surrounding UFC in corona times
In the corona era, there has been much controversy surrounding the UFC. White wanted to continue organizing events at all costs, although five fight nights were banned by local authorities.
The UFC then tried to fight on a private island and a piece of Indian estate, but the broadcaster refused to cooperate.
Florida proved willing to host three UFC events this week. UFC 249 was the first in the night from Saturday to Sunday.
Twelve fights would be held and some 150 people would be admitted to the stadium in downtown Jacksonville. Brazilian Ronaldo Souza tested positive beforehand on COVID-19, so his party had to be dropped.
Wednesday and next Sunday there will be UFC matches again in Jacksonville. On Sunday, the Dutchman Alistair Overeem will form the main fight with the American Walt Harris.
