Dubai Sports Council announced yesterday the launch of two new virtual running challenges during the month of Ramadan, as part of a set of activities and initiatives launched by the council since the beginning of the quarantine, to facilitate and encourage sports in light of everyone’s commitment to stay at home, to support the precautionary measures taken against the spread of the virus « Corona ».

The challenges start in the current 15th, and the distance between the two challenges ranges between 2.5 and 10 km. In this context, the Council cooperates with "Asics" for sporting products, "Sun & Sand Sport" and "Half-Running Club" to organize the first challenge "Ramadan Running" for a distance of five kilometers, in which participation will be from inside the home, and registration will be available for all Categories of different nationalities, ages and physical levels, both inside and outside the country, through the website www.runandwin.ae.

Participation is not limited to a distance of only five kilometers, but free fitness and yoga training classes can be attended, to help prepare well for the race and run in high fitness, and for the longest distance possible, without feeling tired, and certified trainers provide physical exercises every day, from six o'clock, For 20 minutes, while yoga classes are held at nine in the morning every Saturday for 40 minutes.

To date, more than 460 people from 44 nationalities from around the world participate in the training sessions, where all the training sessions are carried out through the direct broadcast in the "Zoom" program, which is available on all smart devices, and the participant connects his account on the program with the challenge website, in order to The number of exercises in which he participated is recorded, and each participant gets points for his participation in the training sessions, where he can exchange these points with valuable prizes from the "Asics" company for sports products, and the prizes increase with the increase in the number of participation times.

On the other hand, the Ramadan Challenge for the second virtual running will include competition for three distances, the first for 2.5 kilometers, the second five kilometers, and the third 10 kilometers, and the challenge can be participated by registering on the website www.hopasports.com, and the challenge will be held in cooperation between the Dubai Council, Promoseven Sports, and sponsored by My Dubai.

Dubai Sports Council initiatives have contributed to the continuity of exercise and physical activity from inside the home, through pioneering initiatives and virtual competitions launched by since the cessation of sports activity in the world, including the initiative «active horses, and sound intact», and the challenge of Sprint and the challenge of virtual circling of bicycles.

The Council also launched a portal for virtual sporting events, to encourage the organizers of sporting events to organize virtual events held from inside the house, and met with wide participation and great success, including the «Home Marathon», and is considered the first race of its kind in the world that included competition in a distance of 42.195 km inside The halls of the house and on the balconies, attended by 750 people from all over the world.

The new challenges are taking place on October 15th, and participation is open to all.
