Egyptian player Youssef Hossam, 21 and 820th in the world, has been suspended for life for "21 violations of the anti-corruption regulations", the Tennis Integrity Unit (TIU) announced Monday evening. An investigation by this body from the leading tennis organizations (ITF, ATP, WTA, Grand Slams) and responsible for fighting corruption in tennis, established that from 2015 to 2019, Hossam had "conspired with others in a vast campaign of corruption linked to bets in the lower levels of professional tennis ”.

He thus distorted several games directly or by encouraging other players to do so, according to the TIU. "Mr. Hossam is permanently excluded, as a player or as a spectator, from any event organized by the official authorities" of tennis, according to the press release from the TIU. The player reached ATP 291 in December 2017. His brother Karim Hossam, 26, was suspended for life and for the same reasons in July 2018.
