First, Petter Myhlback was hired as the new whaling manager. Most recently he comes from a Norwegian ski team and is also a ski gym trainer in Norway.

Then, the so-called "superstar", Perry Olsson, was brought home. Olsson left Sweden for the Norwegian national team in 2003, where he worked for Marit Björgen and Petter Northug, among others.

"There are very good people in Norway"

- There are very good people in Norway. They have certainly done a very good job and I have been there and made contacts and know who to invest in and not. But that is not to say that we must have people from there. There are very good people in Sweden as well, says national team manager Anders Byström to SVT Sport.

But now another person from Norway is on the wallpaper. Kristian Skogstad is currently a new national team coach, which the Norwegian site nordlys.no was the first to report on.

- We have had a dialogue, and it is exciting. It's fun to be mentioned, says Skogstad.

From 2016 to 2019, the 37-year-old was head of Team Videkke Northern Norway and he has trained, among others, the Norwegian national team skaters Erik Valnes and Anna Svendsen.

During the same period, Anders Byström was head of the Norwegian Development Team. For SVT Sports, he now confirms the interest in Skogstad.

- We have had him on the radar too, we have been looking for coaches widely. He's one of those we've talked to.

"Seen properties that can be exciting"

What makes him interesting?

- I know him before. It is probably a little bit close to my "connections" to Norway that I know which coaches I have experienced as driven and positive there, and who will be able to become very good coaches in the future. I have seen qualities of him that can be exciting.

- But we are definitely not there that we offer him anything yet, we look over which coaches are available now. Unfortunately, it's a little late, it's like getting into a club that will start the series. You would have liked a little more time to do that job, but that's it. And there are many good coaches, so that's no problem.

Isn't it that the best ones have been taken already?

- No, it's not like the NHL draft has already gone and it's run. There are many good ones.

Byström says that there will be a total of three or four coaches in the national team. One opportunity that is being discussed at the moment is joint training for men and women.

If Magnus Ingesson and Stefan Thomson remain as women's coach he cannot answer.

When do you think you will be able to tell us something?

- I had hoped it would be ready a week ago. But we also have to make sure that we do a good recruitment process and not just throw in someone, but we discuss what will work well against the law.
