It was in the middle of April that SVT Sport was able to reveal that the Motor Sports Association had been on a trip to the US financed by the members' money. The trip cost SEK 300,000 and due to the expensive costs, the Board exceeded its own annual budget by approximately SEK 570,000.

The union's auditor does not want to give the board discharge because the board bought alcohol and paid for related parties who accompanied the trip.

The departure of Lars Pettersson as chairman does not surprise SVT Sports expert Jonas Kruse.

- I am certainly not directly surprised given the accountant's story and the criticism that has come from different angles. It does not feel like the entire board could be left after this, you had to make changes, Kruse says.

Was it the right decision?

- It is a very complex question, there are two pages and we do not have all the information. But it is clear that the criticism from the auditor is harsh. I think the right people have sat on the board, they are good at racing and rally issues but then the board lacks people with other skills. For example, to have a policy on travel and alcohol and on the economy that would be better followed. A person with more order and readiness would have sat on the board.

The most important thing now is to go to the bottom with everything to get the opportunity to work forward again and be able to develop Swedish car sports, says Kruse.

- It is important to regain confidence. And what is especially important to find out in this is the economy, what does it look like?
