No doubles, no indoors, little backlash. The FFT has set out its rules for the resumption of tennis at the time of deconfinement, on May 11. Unsurprisingly, the federation has implemented fairly restrictive measures to limit the spread of the coronavirus.

These rules must still be approved by the Ministry of Sports. It is a question of authorizing the tennis and the paratennis on the only outdoor grounds "completely discovered" and in singles only, on condition of respecting certain sanitary instructions.

"Practitioners must, for example, already arrive in tennis gear with their own equipment and clean the bench or the chair with a disinfectant before and after playing," explains the FFT. To play, each player must "use balls bearing a distinctive sign […] and serve only with his marked balls". "Individual lessons [...] would also be authorized, as well as the resumption of training for high-level players," said the FFT in its press release. The Federation also authorizes the practice "for small groups of school children".

Other practices annexed to the study

Individual practice on the wall is also authorized under certain sanitary conditions. On the other hand, the FFT is still studying “the protocols for resuming group lessons, the practice of double, competition but also the practice of associated disciplines (padel, beach tennis and short palm game) with a view to the next stages of deconfinement ”. With regard to the clubs themselves, they must ensure "social distancing" and for this, the FFT imposes in particular that "club houses, reception areas, changing rooms, showers and dining areas are closed ”.
