Orientation star Tove Alexandersson has been ill and after the illness she has had heart problems. She told herself this via a press release earlier today.

- I became ill at the end of March with high and quite prolonged fever as the main symptom. I'm not tested for covid-19, so I don't know if that's what I've had, but I've had some symptoms that could be indicative of it, ”she said in the press release.

"She gets very good help"

According to the Swedish Confederation Captain Håkan Carlsson, the Stora Tuna orienteer is undergoing a series of investigations to determine what is the problem.

- It is important to take it seriously and do good research. She gets very good help from the medical experts so it's just to follow the trend, Carlsson tells SVT Sport.

The answers to surveys will be in the middle of May at the earliest and the answers will be important before the World Cup promotion to the championship which will be decided in Denmark in October.

- The timing is good in a way. Had it been a regular season and she had got this disease, it would have been in the middle of uploading for the first World Cup and so on, says Carlsson and then notes reassuringly:

- Now it is far to the next important competition so she can really take it easy and not stress something too soon, which is great.

Want fair conditions before the World Cup

The question, however, is whether there will be any championship at all this autumn for the orienteers.

"It will clear up more and more in retrospect, but right now national competitions are also uncertain," says Carlsson.

Would it be possible to run the World Cup without having a competition before?

"The international federation has said that in order for us to run a World Cup, they want all countries to have three months of sensible preparation in their home countries," says Carlsson.

- It means that we have to be in the national competition, otherwise it will probably not be a championship.
