She is quarantined at home in Florida, USA, and does not know when tennis will start again. But the Japanese world-champion Naomi Osaka is still positive.

- I know quarantine life is necessary and important so I use the time to enjoy being at home, which is something that a tennis player should never be otherwise, says the 22-year-old to Reuters and continues:

- I've cooked a lot of food, trained to keep fit, read and try to stay in touch with my sister and family in Japan, says Osaka.

"Has been tough"

Osaka would, like thousands of other athletes, participate in the Tokyo Olympics this summer. A Japanese championship has been the outward face for - but the games were canceled and moved for a year.

- I know so many, including close friends of mine, who have worked so hard to complete the games. And I know how hard it has been for the people of Japan too, so it's been tough, she says.

Osaka, who won her first Grand Slam title in 2018 when she lifted the buck in the US Open, is now looking ahead to the Olympics once it is run.

- I really hope that the Olympics will be a big celebration for the whole world when we come out on the other side of this pandemic.
