Due to the corona crisis, the Norwegian ski association has lost its troops. On the women's side there are two places, and a total of five. One of those who does not take place in the national team is Mari Eide.

Women's coach Ole Morten Iversen says that illness disturbed the 30-year-old Norwegian last season and that it affected her performance.

- Mari has not performed at the level she should normally be at, but that does not mean that we have lost faith in her. She is still fighting for a place for the World Cup in Oberstdorf and the Beijing Olympics if she wants it herself, says Iversen at a press conference according to Norwegian VG.

Eide took bronze in the sprint at the World Championships in Seefeld last year and has made 70 starts in the World Cup.

Prior to last season, Eide lost his big sister Ida Eide, who tragically passed away after cardiac arrest in an exercise race.

On the men's side, Martin Johnsrud Sundby was petitioned by the national team.

"It's like the wife is taking a divorce," the Norwegian told NRK.
