Today, the news came that Rikard Grip will be the new secretary general of the Swedish biathlon association. Grip was the league captain and national team manager in the ski association between 2010 and 2019 before being fired.

Ola Strömberg, associate director of the long association, is not surprised by Grip's new role in biathlon.

- I know they have been seeking a secretary general for a while and Rikard has a broad background in sports. Length and biathlon are quite close to each other so I am not surprised, says Ola Strömberg to SVT Sport.

- There will always be some who switch between different sports from time to time, so it's not really strange.

"He succeeded very well in the ski association too"

In the biathlon press release, Grip says he looks forward to coming to "a federation in the tailwind". Strömberg does not believe that Grip refers to the fact that there would be no wind in the ski association.

- No, I really don't think so. He succeeded very well in the ski association too so I do not know, you will probably ask him.

Stina Nilsson has also chosen to leave cross country for biathlon next season. But Strömberg feels no concern about losing more skiers to biathlon.

- No, I don't really know. We have so many that are at a very high level and I think we have a business that is good enough for them to succeed well in our sport as well.
