Member of the Executive Board of the International and African Football Federations, Hani Abu Raida, revealed his desire to run for the presidency of the African Football Confederation (CAF) in the upcoming elections.

"I certainly wish to run for the elections of the African Union for the position of president, but the final decision in this regard will be after the end of the Corona crisis," Abu Raida said - in statements on the Egyptian Youth and Sports radio on Tuesday.

He added, "I will not be able to take the decision to run for the CAF presidency in the current period; there are meetings and discussions that must take place first with many officials in Egypt and the African continent."

He made it clear that he will not contest the CAF elections unless he is satisfied that his chances are strong to win the position.

Abu Reeda also confirmed that he decided to run for the Egyptian Football Association’s presidency, and said, “I have decided definitively to run for the upcoming elections for the Football Association, and my list will have old and new faces .. There must be new faces in the Egyptian Football Association, and this is what I took care of in the elections. The past. "

He added that "the five-year committee that currently manages the Egyptian Football Association will be extended for a short period due to the difficulty of establishing the general assembly next June, due to the Corona virus."
